FAQs

General Questions

What if there is a power cut?

In the event of a power cut, through-floor lifts are equipped with a battery backup or an emergency lowering system. This ensures that if the lift is in use when the power goes out, it can safely return to the nearest floor, allowing the user to exit without being stranded. The battery backup provides enough power for a few trips during an outage, depending on the model. Modern stairlifts are also equipped with a backup battery system. This allows the stairlift to continue functioning for at least 8 return journeys, ensuring that you can safely travel up or down the stairs even during a power outage. The backup battery automatically activates when the power goes out, and it will typically provide several trips before needing to be recharged.

Maintenance Questions

How often does my lift need servicing?

The frequency of lift servicing depends on the type of lift and usage. Generally, for most lifts, it is recommended to have a service at least once or twice a year to ensure safe and reliable operation. Regular servicing helps to identify any potential issues early, maintain safety standards, and extend the lifespan of the lift. Always follow the manufacturer's guidelines and any legal requirements regarding lift maintenance.

Do I need Lift Insurance?

No lift insurance is not required; however, we would recommend a LOLER inspection which identifies the requirements for the safe provision and use of lifting equipment certifying that all lifts provided for use in work activities are thoroughly examined by a competent person. This is recommended every 6-12 months to ensure lifts are compliant with set regulations. Please liaise with our sales team for further information.
